Happy End is a great solitaire / puzzle game that permits you to play Othello (aka Reversi) endgames from a selection of thousands and thousands of real matches played by world-level champions.
It's great both for newcomers that would like to relax with this superb classic strategy game, and for advanced players that need to train their skills on the most important part of the match: the endgame.

Select from actually played world-level matches from the WinThor database.
Pattern matching based on tournament name, year, players names, players
colours, winner, and many others, to allow you to play even against yourself!
Keep tracks of the errors by creating statistics of the gravity of your
errors during the matches.
Check your errors by watching and analysing the moves immediately after
the end of the match.
Read a small introduction to strategy in the help document.
Slow down the computer's thought process to be able to think in the opponent's
time.
Rated standings of all your tries that allows you to keep track of your
level increasing during time.
Browse of the actually played moves previous of the problem start.
Ask the computer not to play perfect moves, but originally played moves,
as if you were really against that particular player.
Customizable graphics: you can choose among some 15 different graphic sets,
create
your own and resize the board as you want.
Expandable database of matches, that will allow future tournaments to be
included among the puzzles.

Happy End is completely freeware. You don't have to pay or register, and it doesn't have nags, advs, splash screens or limitations of any kind; just avoid to get money from this software as I would be very upset.
The complete setup is available in the FTP site, under the directory /programs/pc/STUDY/happyend in two versions:
1. FULL SETUP, 6.7 MB
2. SMALL SETUP, 2.4 MB (without many graphic sets, without VB fles, without Winthor files. It is supposed that you already have these files, otherwise the program won't work)

Fix for the missing MSSTDFMT.DLL file:
If you have an old setup, you may miss this file: MSSTDFMT.DLL , download it by pressing here, and unzip it in the c:\windows\system directory.
If still there are problems, do these steps:
1. Open a DOS PROMPT (or run "command").
2. Write the command (without quotes): "cd \windows\system" and hit enter (return).
3. Write the command (without quotes): "regsvr32 c:\windows\system\msstdfmt.dll" and hit enter (return).
